Ajaya is an artist based out of San Francisco, California who works with painting, sculpture, illustration, and installation.

The world she is passionate about has a physical sensation and the work she presents focuses on memories, emotions, and experiences. She works with locations that have played an important part in her life and have shaped her to be who she is today. Whether it's a location here in San Francisco or in India (where she grew up), each site that she chooses has memories and experiences which she holds close to her heart. She makes art pieces either by using a photograph of the location as a reference or by using the location itself as a material and medium. Her art pieces are a way for her to carry old memories and experiences close to her heart with herself. She has been trying to depict locations in as many ways as possible which has motivated her to experiment with not just painting and sculpture, but more recently, also with installation, sound, and video.

Working in multiple mediums is a big part of her practice as it helps her expand her concepts and create interactive artwork. They allow her to include more senses in her work which in turn help with stronger delivery.

Ajaya’s art also involves different textures which helps give her work more physical sensation and depth. She aims to make her art pieces interactive so that her audience can not only look at them but also experience them by touch. She likes her work to be something that people relate to, experience, and take with them as a part of their memory.
